I am a health and fitness fanatic. Anything I can get my hands on about the subject makes me a very happy person, but at times also frustrated and angry. My biggest frustration stems from the garbage that is usually published by the diet industry. I find that nearly all, of the currently popular, diets are based on misinformation and marketing hype. Not only are these diets useless, in helping you lose weight, but they can also be damaging to your health. I have struggled with my weight all my life and I am tired of being lied to by the diet industry!

So, it came as a great surprise to me that “The Fat Burning Kitchen” turned out to be such a great source of information. The book, written by Mike Geary and Catherine Ebeling, is quite unique when compared to other diet books. Instead of presenting you with day to day diet plans, this book actually teaches you what to eat to reduce your weight and improve your health. I can honestly say that by following just one recommendation from this book, and eliminating a certain food from your diet, that you will start losing bodyfat. (Without changing anything else about your lifestyle) I have already done this and am impressed by the results. (I’ll give you a hint – it is a staple of many people’s diets)

“The Fat Burning Kitchen” primarily focuses on the hidden dangers in foods, that you probably have in your kitchen, and recommends better alternatives. Instead of just telling you to get rid of all junk food in your kitchen, the book actually explains to you why these foods are keeping you overweight and unhealthy. It then goes on to explain what to replace these foods with and the reasons for doing so. You will no longer need to guess what and what not to eat and where to shop.

I appreciate that this book does not contain silly information about dieting that I am accustomed to reading elsewhere.  There is no mention of grapefruit or cabbage soup diets here. The authors also reject, and rightfully so, The Food Pyramid. In fact, at times the book takes a serious tone and exposes how manipulative and uncaring that the food industry can be to its consumers. It is also quite fascinating why foods, that were never fit for human consumption, have ended up in your local supermarket.

In addition to the book, purchasers of  The Fat Burning Kitchen, will receive a series of five videos. The videos give insight into what to look for at the supermarket, as well as how to properly read food labels. Meal ideas for breakfast, snacks, lunch, and dinner are also included.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking to lose weight, get healthy, or just to learn about what they are actually putting in their body. It is nice to see a sane approach to weight-loss that doesn’t focus on calorie restriction, food restricitons, and other ways to make you miserable. The Fat Burning Kitchen’s greatest quality is that it focuses on health, and if the guidelines in the book are followed, weight-loss will quickly follow.
